Genetic Spontaneous Late Subluxation of the Lens Previously Reported as a Myopic Kinship With Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

To the Editor. —We previously reported a myopic kinship with apparent primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG). 1 Subsequent observation of our reported kinship has revealed that the angle closure glaucoma was due to ectopia lentis. We now believe affected members of this kinship represent cases of genetic spontaneous late subluxation of the lens (GSLSL). 2 We herein update our case reports and conclusions. Report of Cases.—Case 1. —This white man is now aged 41 years. When we previously reported his case, he was believed to be the most myopic individual to experience PACG. At that time (October 1983), he was aged 32 years with a refractive error of −9.00+2.00×10° in the right eye and −9.50+1.75×30° in the left eye. Visual acuity was 20/20 in each eye.
