A New Approach for Multibeam Echosounding Based on Interferometric Principle

In order to improve the resolution of multibeam echosounding,a new bathymetry processing is proposed which based on interferometric principle.The interferometric processing is used in every beam footprint to acquire more numbers of bathymetric values.The new algorithm is illustrated by data from computer simulation and 300kHz multibeam echosounder recorded on lake experiment.The results indicate that compared with traditional multibeam bathymetric method,the new algorithm can greatly improve the sonar resolution and acquire large numbers of depth value.
