Pre-fracture zone model on electrically impermeable and magnetically permeable interface crack between two dissimilar magnetoelectroelastic materials

2013
Abstract A plane strain problem for two magnetoelectroelastic half-planes adhered by a thin isotropic interlayer is considered. A novel crack model, i.e., an interface crack with pre-fracture zones is introduced for magnetoelectroelastic bimaterial system. Both the stresses, electrical displacements in pre-fracture zones and the lengthes of pre-fracture zones are unknown, which are determined by solving the corresponding Hilbert problem and solving nonlinear equations introduced by yielding condition on the pre-fracture zones. Finally, the case for symmetrical loads is analyzed and numerically discussed. Some important conclusions are drawn. Among others, in the suggested model, any singularities connected with the crack are eliminated. Results presented in this paper should have potential applications to the design of multilayered magnetoelectroelastic structures and devices.
