Magnetic properties and recording characteristics of Co-Cr-Ta-Mo perpendicular recording media
1999
Some Co-Cr-Ta-Mo perpendicular magnetic recording disks with different Mo content (C/sub Mo/) ranging from 13 to 5.1 at.% were fabricated by ion beam sputtering prepared. Magnetic properties, crystal structure and recording characteristics of those media were investigated. The disks with (C/sub Mo/) of 0 to 35 at% exhibited almost the same output values, however the media noise was decreased with increasing (C/sub Mo/). The disks with (C/sub Mo/) of 35 at.% exhibited the highest S/N, of which value 3.2 dB higher S/N, than that of the disks without Mo at a wavelength of 0.34 /spl mu/m.
