Performance Characteristics of Frequency-Doubled Nd:YAG Laser Used in Digital Video Disk Recorder

1993
A compact and green laser is developed using a diode-pumped, frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser. Single-mode operation is achieved with the combination of a Brewster plate and a type-II phase-matched KTiOPO 4 (KTP) crystal. With the feedback control of green laser output, A stable operation longer than 10 hours with a relative intensity noise of -130 dB/Hz was obtained. This green laser source was successfully used in a digital video disk recording
