INTELLIGENT EARLY WARNING SYSTEM BASED ON FUZZY LOGIC

This paper introduces the details of an intelligent fuzzy logic expert system, called alarm filtering and diagnostic system (AFDS). It was developed to provide power system’s operator alarm pictures and system-wide failure information during abnormal states of voltage and frequency. The system can be installed to monitor power failure or system damage. The intelligent fuzzy system predicts the eventual failure of the monitored system in case of either voltage disturbance or frequency fluctuation. Full details of the development of the functions and rules are described and the results of several test cases are demonstrated. The system consists of 9 fuzzy logic controllers. They are connected using linguistic variables rather than mathematical variables. The proposed system was tested and found that it is highly precise in reducing aliasing effects and identifying the current prevailing conditions.
