2014
Objective To study the curative effect of transplantation of umbilical cord blood stem cells on Fanconi anemia (FA).Methods One patient with FA aged 15 was enrolled in this study in our center on May 10th 2012.The FA patient was transplanted with umbilical cord blood stem cells.Conditioning procedure included fludarabine (Flu) +-cyclophosphamide (CTX) +-rabbit anti-human T-lymphocyte immunoglobulin (ATG).Therapeutic effect of transplantation was reported with its relevant literature reviewed. Results The times to neutrophil >0.50 × 109/L and platelet > 20 × 109/L engraftment were 16 d and 21 d,respectively. At the same, the patient achieved full donor chimerism (FDC).No severe infection and other complications occurred. Conclusions Transplantation of umbilical cord blood stem cells is a safe and effective treatment modality for this FA patient.
