The research of Kriippel-like factors in hematologic diseases

2012
Krttppel-like factors are an important component of the transcription machinery in eukaryotie cells, Whieh are involved in many physiologic and pathologic processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and neoplasm transformation. They have a highly conserved domain at earboxyl terminal that binds to GC-rich regions or CACCC sequence in DNA via three C2H2 zinc motifs, whereas their amino terminal is vary greatly and contains transcription regulatory domains to mediate transcriptional activation or repression. Recently, several groups have been identified to .control the diverse biological processes of erythrocytes and leukocytes. For example, KLF 1 activates 13-globin gene expression; KLF2 has been demonstrated to regulate T-cell properties of quiescence and survival; KLF4, KLF5 and KLF6 are involved in the pathogenesis of blood cell cancers. In this article, we focuses on those KLFs which have new connection with blood disease. Key words: KLF2 ;  KLF4 ;  KLF5 ;  Hematologic diseases
