Anisotropy of sintered antifriction materials containing a solid lubricant

1970
1. It is shown that when a sintered antifriction material with a solid lubricant having a laminar structure, such as a silver/molybdenum disulfide composite, is produced by pressing in a die set, it exhibits anisotropy of mechanical and frictional characteristics. 2. In the manufacture of dry friction components from such materials, it is necessary to allow for the possibility of preferential orientation of the solid lubricant particles and to choose accordingly the method of producing such parts and the design of the friction unit.
