Investigation of temperature transitions of chitosan

Abstract The structurophysical state of chitosan has been investigated by linear dilatometry and by thermomechanical and X-ray diffractometric methods. The observed temperature transitions of chitosan may be attributed to the molecular mobility of amorphous parts of the polymer. It is shown that depending on the low molecular substance concentration the system chitosan-low molecular substance may be either a homo- or heterogeneous system.
