The invention relates to a metallic complex and a preparation method thereof and particularly relates to heteronuclear bimetallic complexes having catalytic activity for the Suzuki reaction and a preparation method thereof. The three compounds all adopt 2,2'-bipyridyl-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid as a ligand. Central ions are respectively a group of heteronuclear bimetal, namely palladium ion and lanthanum ion, the palladium ion and cerium ion, and the palladium ion and neodymium ion. By changing the molar ratio of each material, the three complexes, namely Pd-L-La, Pd-L-Ce and Pd-L-Nd (L is the ligand), are prepared by utilization of hydrothermal (solvothermal) synthesis technology. The three novel complexes have definite structures and have good catalytic activity for the Suzuki coupled reaction. Halogenated aromatics are subjected to the Suzuki coupled reactions under the catalysis of the complexes to synthesize polyene hydrocarbon derivatives, styrene derivatives and biphenyl derivatives. The reaction is widely applied for synthesis and preparation of natural products, medicines, liquid crystals, supermolecules, advanced materials, and the like.
