MoS2 Mediated Nitrogen Enriched Composite Material for High and Fast Li-ion Storage

2020
Abstract The growth of lithium-ion battery technology is hindered due to its limited ionic conductivity, slow kinetics, and volume expansion. To address these issues, we have developed a composite MoS2@C3N4 by using the nitrogen-rich carbon nitride (C3N4) with a mediator molybdenum disulfide (MoS2). The MoS2@C3N4 composite delivers a reversible capacity of 2283 mAh g-1 at 0.1 C-rate over 500 cycles and exhibits superior rate capability and cycling stability than the C3N4. The enhanced performance is attributed to the utilization of a mediator MoS2 which alters its physicochemical properties, heterojunction formation and the enhanced electrochemical active porous site, consisting of channels for easy penetration of Li-ion.
