Regeneration of Intrabony Defects Utilizing Stem Cells Allograft

2020
Regeneration of intrabony defects remains an important goal in the treatment of periodontitis. Clinical and histologic evidence of periodontal regeneration has been shown for multiple regenerative approaches, including bone replacement grafts, guided tissue regeneration, and biologics. Despite positive results, the search to achieve improved predictability in terms of correction prevalence, defect types, and ability to maintain long-term results continues. In this chapter, we describe the use of stem cell allograft for the correction of intrabony defects and address whether the results can be improved if used in combination with guided tissue regeneration and/or recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor.
