Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of P12A* 3C gene of foot-and-mouth disease virus type O into maize.

2010
The P12A3C gene of food-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV) type O was transformed into type Ⅱ callus maize inbred line 18-599 via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.25 resistant transgenic plants were obtained after the primary screening on the medium containing hygromycin. The detection by PCR,PCR-southern and RT-PCR indicated that the P12A3C gene was integrated into the genome of 18-599 and expressed. The detection of T1 generation indicated that the P12A3C gene could be stably transmited to the next generation. These results provided experimental evidence for production of oral FMDV vaccine.
