A Glia-Derived Nexin Acting as a Neurite-Promoting Factor

1990
Glial cells are thought to derive, as do neurons, from the neuroepithelial cells of the neural tube. Astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, Schwann cells, or microglia are the major types of glial cells, and it has long been recognized that they have a role in the development of the neuronal cells. They are also believed to support some functions of the fully differentiated neurons.
