STRETCHABLE OXYGEN SENSOR BASED ON SELF-HEALING AND SELF-ADHESIVE ORGANOHYDROGELS

2021
A simple solvent replacement strategy is used to replace part of the water molecules with propylene glycol (PG) molecules inside the hydrogels to convert the polyacrylamide-chitosan (PAM-CS) composite hydrogels into PAM-CS-PG organohydrogels. Based on the self-healing and self-adhesive organohydrogels, a stretchable oxygen sensor with a wide working range, high sensitivity (0.167%/ppm), low limit of detection (29 ppm), and excellent linearity is fabricated. The organohydrogel sensor shows unparalleled stretchability (up to 1600% strain) and strong adhesion strength (35N/m) on various substrates. An electrochemical reaction mechanism is proposed to explain the positive current shift of the oxygen sensors. This work provides ideas for the fabrication of more gas sensors using hydrogels.
