Complementary aspects of the quasi‐free (e, e’p) reaction and the (d, 3He) reaction

2008
The quest for absolute spectroscopic factors is an old one but has not yet been successfully realized experimentally. Various uncertainties in the DWBA analysis of one‐nucleon transfer reactions impair the precision of deduced spectroscopic factors. We argue that these uncertainties may be reduced if information from electron scattering is employed in the analysis of hadron‐induced reactions. High‐resolution data of the quasi‐free proton knockout reaction (e, e’p) are presented and the spectroscopic information obtained is discussed. We indicate that a synthesizing approach to electromagnetic and hadronic reactions may lead towards the goal of absolute spectroscopic factors.
