Study to assess satisfaction of general practitioners (GP) with oncology services, GP awareness of follow-up guidelines for patients with cancer, and GP access to oncology services.

e19643 Background: The Irish National Cancer Control Programme Performance Monitoring Report published in December 2008 proposed the development of community oncology care led by general paractitioners (GPs) including long-term follow-up for well patients. Methods: A printed questionnaire was mailed to 198 general practitioners in the North Dublin area seeking to answer 5 main points: (i) adequacy of information relayed to GPs regarding treatment plan and potential side effects of cancer treatments, (ii) GP awareness of follow-up guidelines for patients treated with curative intent for breast, colon and testicular cancer, (iii) GP ease of access to radiological examinations, (iv) GP access to palliative care services, (v) degree of GP confidence in following up oncology patients discharged to their care. Results: 115 questionnaires were returned.
