Phase resolved and averaged Wave Simulations in Jakarta Harbour

2012
In this paper we show realistic and synthetic coastal zone simulations in Tanjung Priok, the harbour of Jakarta, Indonesia. Realistic wind wave conditions are obtained by performing simulations of a spectral-phase averaging code SWAN in several nested areas, i.e. from a large domain to the harbour. The resulting energy spectrum from the SWAN simulation in the harbour is then taken as an input signal for a phaseresolving model, the Variational Boussinesq Model (VBM). The performance of the harbour is investigated by analyzing the wave disturbances (the quotient of the significant waveheight and the input significant waveheight) and signals at several places in the inner harbour. As addition to the realistic simulations, a synthetic extreme case is considered by taking a JONSWAP spectra as input signal.
