Independence of spin-orbit-torque from exchange-bias probed via training effect in IrMn-layer/ferromagnetic-ribbon heterostructures

2018
Using magnetoimpedance (MI) effect, we probe spin-orbit torque (SOT) and exchange-bias training effect in IrMn-layer/ferromagnetic-ribbon heterostructures. By MI measurements at low frequencies (~MHz), the possible correlation between SOT and exchange bias (EB) is investigated. Single peak behavior of the MI response with a position at nonzero magnetic field is used to probe the SOT and EB in the system. A shift in the MI peak to zero fields accompanied by 52% increase in MI has been detected as the signature of training effect (TE). Independence of SOT from EB is presented according to the MI response during several measurements of the MI, thanks to the presence of TE.
