Solar-driven all-solid-sate lithium-air batteries operating at extreme low temperatures

2020
We propose an innovative solar photothemal battery technology to develop all-solid-sate lithium-air batteries operating at ultra-low temperatures where plasmonic air electrode can efficently harvest solar energy and convert it into heat, enabling efficient charge storage and transmission in electrolyte/electrode materials. Such batteries demonstrate a high dischargee capacity (~3600 mAh g-1) at -73 oC and record-cycle lifespans both at -73 oC and room temperature.
