[Problem] To provide a crystalline wholly aromatic polyester that is a polycondensate of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aromatic diol, and a method for producing the same. [Solution] The crystalline wholly aromatic polyester of the present invention is a polycondensate of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aromatic diol, the structural units derived from the aromatic dicarboxylic acid including structural units represented by chemical formula (1), and the structural units derived from the aromatic diol including structural units represented by chemical formula (4).
