THz Pump-Probe Setup for Experiments in High Magnetic Fields

The combination of high power, pulsed THz radiation and high magnetic fields is very promising from a scientific perspective. We present the design of a THz single-color pump-probe setup inside a high-field Bitter magnet, using components that are not within the scope of regular quasi-optical THz setups. We use special waveguides and prisms to spatially separate the pump and the probe beams, which allow us to work in a cryogenic environment in a small bore magnet. Our test results show that this pump-probe insert enables studying the fast carrier dynamics in semiconductors using cyclotron resonance.
