Semiconductor optical Bragg isolator
2008
An integrated isolator in a semiconductor waveguide version is a key device for enabling laser insertion in photonic integrated circuits or packaged laser cost reduction. We propose in this paper a new InP-based isolator concept capable of isolation effect enhancement and current consumption reduction with respect to a previously developed ferromagnetic semiconductor optical isolator. The device principle and a first theoretical proof are presented, along with the novel modelisation approach.
