Antenna array coupling reduction based on stacked EBG structures

2017
A coupling reduction method is proposed by using stacked electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure for a two-element antenna array. The stacked EBG is a periodic multilevel layered electromagnetic band gap structures (PML-EBG). The PML-EBG is set in the middle of two identical patch antennas with distance of 0.13λ. The proposed antenna operates at 2.55GHz. A good isolation is achieved by the use of the PML-EBG structures. The results shown that about 30dB isolation is achieved compared with the antenna array without the proposed decoupling structure.
