2013
Cognitive - behavioral therapy is a generic term for therapeutic interventions that incorporates behavioral techniques (designed to eliminate emotions and dysfunctional behaviors by changing the behavior) and cognitive techniques (designed to eliminate emotions and dysfunctional behaviors by changing the cognitions), the purpose of the intervention is to reduce the stress - and the unwanted behavior, by undermining the previous acquisition and providing new learning experiences. Cognitive therapy is based on positive thinking ("positive thinking"), according to which, based on a reality review in an empiric way, puts the patient in a position to check his thinking in a consciously way and to relativize the anticipated consequences towards some stressful situations in his environment. Cognitive Therapy accredits the importance of lucidity, conscience, reason and the capacity of testing and adapting to reality.
