Setting of double-mode stimulated emission in lasers with linearly and orthogonally polarized modes

We have studied experimentally and theoretically the setting of the mode intensities and intermode beat frequency of double-mode lasers with a phase-anisotropic Fabry-Perot cavity. Lasing characteristics are compared for setting single- and double-mode operation. Experimental studies have been performed for and laser-diode-pumped Nd:YAG CW double-mode lasers. It is shown that the processes of setting of the double-mode emission in these lasers are similar. The experimental and theoretical results obtained are in good qualitative agreement.
