Effects of waste oil contamination

1985
Experimental documentation indicates that the practice of treating roads with waste oil for dust suppression can deteriorate the environment. Health risks are still under debate. The study developed dispersion models to see what happens to waste oil components as a result of evaporation, seepage, and dust transport. All the waste oil contaminants studied are known to be either toxic or carcinogenic, but the environmental limits have not been set for most. 10 references, 2 figures, 5 tables.
