Rectangular microstrip patch antenna loaded with left-handed material layer

2012
The invention discloses a novel left-handed material used for a rectangular microstrip patch antenna. According to a method, dual-opening triangular resonant ring metal patterns are etched on one side of a dielectric substrate by adopting a circuit board, so that each of a dielectric constant and magnetic permeability is a negative value. An S parameter diagram of the structure is analyzed, so that the dual-negative structure of the novel left-handed material really exists. The antenna comprises a radiation element, a left-handed material layer, a dielectric layer and a reference ground, wherein the left-handed material layer is simple in structure and convenient to use. The conventional rectangular microstrip patch antenna has the shortcomings of narrow working band, low gain, low end-fire performance, low power capacity and the like. The advantages of the novel left-handed material are taken into account, and the novel left-handed material is loaded to the rectangular microstrip patch antenna, so that the related characteristics of the conventional antenna system can be improved to a certain extent.
