The effect of texture and internal stresses on the perpendicular anisotropy of vacuum evaporated ferromagnetic films

1971
Abstract The effect of crystallographic texture and macrostresses on perpendicular anisotropy was studied. The effect of texture is shown to be considerable for materials with high magnetocrystalline anisotropy (Co, Fe). Tensile stresses can both increase and reduce perpendicular anisotropy (in materials with positive and negative magnetostriction respectively). In the films of Fe in the presence of texture [100] contribution of stresses to perpendicular anisotropy may be positive, zero or negative depending on the degree of the texture perfection.
