Damage to Overhead Transmission Line Conductor on Account of Aeolian Vibration

1971
This paper deals with the damage noted on 220 KV Delhi-Pipli Line on account of aeolian vibrations on the phase conductors armoured with Tapered Armour Hods. Effort has been made to investigate the causes of damage and remedial measures to repair the conductor have been suggested. The main purpose of this paper is to highlight the effects of vibrations on the conductor and the consequent damage being caused to the transmission lines conductors so that the other State Electricity Boards may also check up their lines for similar damage and may lake remedial measures well in time to avoid major breakdowns of transmission line conductors. Now in India, when efforts are being made for Jiaving integrated operation of various links are well maintained and any possible failure of transmission lines on account of the above causes guarded against.
