Inverse Methods in Geoscience Modelling - a Review for Prospective
1998
Through three examples taken on purpose on different scientific areas: Geology, Geophysic and Reservoir Engineering, the authors have extracted the general framework of inversion methods used for interpreting the observations, For the stratigraphical modelling, it is the thickness of the different lithofacies ; for the seismic data, it is the earth vibration and for the reservoir engineering, it is the pressures and flow rates at well. The separation between the mathematical tools and the specific and direct problems allows to share experiences between the different research groups and hopefully will bring new perspectives for instance combining these inversions
