Management of Patients with Congenital Cone Deficiency (Achromatopsia with Amblyopia)

1981
Twenty patients with congenital cone deficiency were treated by pilocarpine 296. All had low visual acuity, photophobia, nystagmus and a severe color vision defect up to total color blindness. Most had squint, hyperopic astigmatism and some had retinal changes. The visual acuity improved in 11 out of 17 patients. In 16 out of 17 patients there was an objective improvement in the photophobia and the nystagmus together with a clear subjective improvement in vision.
