Acting to sense: the lowest levels of a subsumption architecture

1994
A truly distributed implementation of the subsumption architecture is presented that is used on a network of transputers to control an industrial laser scanning inspection system. The lowest levels of a bottom-up development are presented that deal with the control of sophisticated active sensory systems. Discussion continues dealing with aspects of learning control and subsystem interaction illustrated by reference to the active sensory subsystems of the inspection system.
