Coexistence for unlicensed spectrum users in white spaces

2010
Cognitive radio devices dynamically share unused sections of the radio spectrum. Under current spectrum regulations different secondary users accessing these unused sections have equal access rights, and they will interfere when operating on the same spectrum resources at the same time instance. A coexistence solution between secondary users is needed to resolve this. We propose a coexistence solution for fair and efficient sharing of white space spectrum between secondary networks for various use cases. The solution is based on collecting local information and making dynamical decisions. In our proposed solution neighboring network discovery is based on storing each network's information on a server and communication with it and other networks' management entities over Internet.
