Battery testing using a PDP-11 computer with RSX-11M and a CAMAC serial highway

1979
The computer system used to test batteries in the National Battery Testing Laboratory located at Argonne National Laobratory is descirbed. The computer system is designed around a PDP-11/45 running the RSX-11M V3.1 operating system. A CAMAC serial highway connects the computer to the crates that contain the data acquisition and cycler control modules in the laboratory. An interactive color CRT provides the means for operator control of the system. An LSI-11 microcomputer is used as a satellite processor to provide fast response for specialized tests that simulate the load placed on a battery by an electric vehicle. 4 figures.
