El conocimiento científico y el saber de la ética

espanolUnos dudan que la evolucion moral de los seres humanos sea vivir para estar a la altura de los deseos que suponen la aplicacion de los avances cientificos. No siendo yo de esta opinion, me parece sin embargo que, hoy mas que cualquier otro momento, la frontera entre lo que hacemos (la aplicacion del conocimiento cientifico-tecnologico) y lo que debemos hacer (lo que dicta nuestra conciencia) es mas impreciso, esta lleno de dudas y preguntas dificiles a responder. ?Donde esta el limite de la modificacion genetica? ?Lo aceptaremos por motivos terapeuticos? Y si es asi ?por que no lo utilizamos para mejorar nuestras capacidades fisicas e intelectuales? El analisis y las respuestas a estas preguntas, y a otras, nos conduce a la posibilidad de un dialogo entre ciencia y etica, entre tecnologia y humanidades. EnglishSome people that the moral evolution of human beings is to live up to the challenges posed by the application of scientific advances. I am not of this opinion but it seems clear that today, more than ever, the boundary between what we can do, (the application of scientific knowledge), and what we have to do, (what dictates our conscience), is more imprecise, more full of doubts and questions difficult to answer. Where is the limit of genetic modification? Will we accept genetic modifications for therapeutic purposes? And if so, why not to apply it to improve our physical and intellectual capacities? Analysis and responses to these and other questions lead us to the possibility of dialogue between science and ethics, between technology and the humanities.
