Analysis of related factors of injury caused by falls in inpatients

Objective:To probe into the factors that affect the degree of injury after fall and provide reference for the prevention and mitigation of injury after fall.Methods:Retrospectively the related data of 209 cases of inpatients with fall were collected in our hospital from 2011 to 2014,patients were divided into no injury or mild injury group and Moderate and severe injury group according to the degree of fall injury,then analyzed the differences between the patients’ fall related factors between both groups.Results:In 209 cases,146cases(69.85%)had no injury or slight injury,63cases(30.15%)had moderate or severe injury.there were different between two groups of patients in aspects of age,fall blood pressure,fall history,mental state,Visual acuity,calcium,the use of antihypertensive drugs and anti arrhythmia drugs,whether or not combined with hypertension,nervous system disease and osteoporosis.The difference was statistically significant.Logistic regression showed that older age,high mean arterial pressure、hypokalemia、hypocalcemia、merger osteoporosis were the risk factors of occurence of moderate or more severe injury caused by fall in inpatient.Conclusion:Severity of injury caused by falls was affected by many factors,we should strengthen the safety education and fall prevention intervention in patients with old age,high blood pressure,hypokalemia,hypocalcemia or combined with osteoporosis.
