Organometallic Synthons for Anionic Thiocarbene and α-Deprotonated Thione Complexes

The adducts, [W(CO)5{C(OEt)(Ph)C(Ph)=C=S}]−, which form on reaction of PhC≡CS− with the carbene complex [W(CO)5{C(OEt)Ph}], react chemo- and stereoselective with a variety of electrophiles to give coordinated thioaldehydes, cyclic and acyclic thiocarbene complexes, as well as dithioester complexes.
