The invention provides a projector and a method for avoiding projecting a projected image on a human body. The projector comprises a lens, an image processing device and an image projection device, wherein the lens is used for capturing a facial image or a face and body contour; the processing device is connected to the lens for receiving the facial image or the face and body contour from the lens, and processing an area corresponding to the facial image or the face and body contour in a to-be-projected image without displaying the image in the area; and the image projection device is connected to the image processing device for projecting the image processed by the image processing device. According to the projector and the method for avoiding projecting the projected image on the human body, a problem of projecting the image on the face or the body is effectively solved, the embarrassment caused by projecting the image on the face or the body is avoided, and the stimulation of the projected light to eyes is eliminated.
