The Big Loop - An Integrated and Automated Approach for Reservoir Management and Ensemble-based Production Optimization

The Big loop solution is an integrated and automated approach which offers the propagation of geological and reservoir engineering uncertainties from Seismic characterization to Simulation, and helps automate the workflow to produce geologically consistent history match ensembles, that in-turn, will lead to optimized production. In the present study the big-loop approach is applied to a geologically complex field located in the Norwegian Sea. This field has several geological challenges and associated uncertainties such as the facies model, its sand volume fraction, GOC, OWC and fault transmissibility, which stand in the way to a good history match.
