A system, a method and an apparatus for a digital wavelet generator for detecting a multi-resolution spectrum of a cognitive radio application are provided to generate various wavelet bases by changing only a memory addressing scheme or a clock speed and to allow the digital wavelet generator to optimally use hardware resources. A desired address skip interval in a memory is selected or determined(302). A digital wavelet basis data point stored in a row which has not been skipped in the memory is outputted to a digital-analog converter at the selected address skip interval(304). The digital-analog converter generates an analog wavelet basis from the retrieved digital wavelet basis data point(306). A filter filters the generated analog wavelet basis according to predetermined cutoff frequency(308).
