Variational principle for the Lorentz gauge condition and restriction of the functional integration domain in non-Abelian gauge theory

The authors consider a variational principle which generates an additional Lorentz gauge condition in gauge field theory. The varied functional is shown to attain an absolute minimum on an appropriately defined set. The properties of the family of fields corresponding to these minima are described. A functional integral over this family of fields is examined.
