Physics laboratory oriented multiprocessor system for data acquisition and processing

Abstract This paper presents a multiprocessor based architecture of a data acquisition and processing system designed for real time applications. Its destination and area of applicability — where maximum efficiency is obtained — are discussed and examples of implementing pipe-line and parallel processing are presented. Also some details are given, concerning the hardware and software interprocessor communication protocol.
