On the stress distribution in a microperiodic two-layered composite with a crack normal to the layering

Abstract The plane static problems of a periodic two-layered elastic space weakened by a crack normal to the layering are considered. The study is performed within the homogenized model with microlocal parameters given by Wozniak [ Int. J. Engng Sci. 5 , 483–499 (1987); Bull. Polish Acad. Technol. 3–5 , 143–153 (1987)] and Matysiak and Wozniak [ Int. J. Engng Sci. 5 , 549–559 (1987)]. Using the complex variable method and based on the derived complex potential representation, the exact solutions of the considered problems is obtained. The stress singularities at the crack tips and the case of a crack with uniform pressure are discussed.
