Reading Span Test for Brazilian Portuguese: An Eye-Tracking Implementation

2019
The Reading Span Test (RST) is an instrument created for assessing verbal working memory capacity. Since its first version, the RST has undergone several modifications, including translations to different languages. This work aims to create a version of a standardized RST in Brazilian Portuguese. In addition, an implementation for eye-tracking devices on the RST is presented. Two reading conditions, aloud and silent, were compared to ensure optimal methodology for future studies. Significant differences were found between the two reading conditions, and distinct reading strategies were revealed by the eye-tracker.
