Satellite communication system point to multi-nodal point employing multiple geostationary satellites.

2001
A method for transmitting a communication signal (20) to one of a plurality of mobile user terminals (18) through at least two satellites in geosynchronous orbits, comprising the steps of: processing a received signal (42) in a ground hub (12); predicting any time delays among multiple paths between the ground hub and the mobile user terminal; radiating the processed signal (24) through the multiple paths to at least two satellites (16; 106, 108), the geosynchronous of which orbits perturbed in inclination and in eccentricity relative to the same geosynchronous reference orbit in such a way the periods of the geosynchronous orbits of said at least two satellites (16; 106, 108) remain constant; and re-radiating said signal (24, 20) from said at least two satellites (16; 106, 108) to the mobile user terminal (18).
