Forest recreation(or recreation activities) including healing, culture, and education related to forests, which is one of forest public functions with both direct use value and indirect use value, has recently played a critical role for citizens’ welfare as income increase, health and aesthetic issues. The purpose of the research is to estimate willingness to pay, total benefit and behavior analysis for forest recreation by using onsite DBCV survey in national wide from June to September in 2012. The in-person 700 survey results show that ‘relatively high recognition of forest public function and its satisfaction’ makes substantially the positive effect on WTP, and the each ratio of forest recreation 37.1%, forest healing 32.0%, and forest landscape 30.9% is represented in order. The DBCV WTP estimate is about ₩ 814.1(household/month) for a year and the expansion of those benefit on the WTP of forest recreation values is calculated to be ₩781.6billion(WTP ₩814.1/household /month×17,950,675 household×12 month/year × response rate 45.3%). Hence, the result proves that forests are in important position as a natural recreation and related to its activities to citizens and its result could be fundamental data on economic analysis on forest public policy.
