Interferometric Tracking for Deep Space Spacecrafts and Its Information Content Analysis

This paper has derived the observed equation for group delay and phase delay based on the signal transmitting process to show the principle of spacecraft interferometric tracking. Both advantages and disadvantages of these two kinds of delays have been compared. The information content of these observables has been analyzed to prove that the interferometric observable could be complementary to range and range rate.
