Umbral de nitritos para inhibir la corrosión del acero en hormigón armado amasado con agua de mar

1992
An advance is presented of the results for determining the nitrite threshold, the inhibitory efficiency and the maintenance of the protective effect over time, when nitrite ions (NO 2 − ) were added to concrete mixed with sea water. In concrete mixed with sea water chloride ions (Cl − ) represent a risk for rebar corrosion. That risk can be offset by adding NO 2 − ions at the moment of concrete mixing. Concrete fabricated with sea water is a common practice in the desert zone of the Pacific Cost of South America, where, in many cases, sea water and beach sand are the only available materials for making concrete
